REVIEWS FOR TINA T'URNER TEA LADY

CHORTLE
- Steve Bennett
The idea is as simple as it is bonkers, but with perhaps a nod to the old BBC Two series Stella Street...
Tracey Collins, the woman behind the caricature, belts out the numbers with the familiar throaty rasp; owning the stage and the audience. She flirts aggressively with them all, ordering her prey to touch her leg, or more. ‘I’m naaaasty,’ she growls, gutturally. Few can resist such bestial power, and the force of her personality gets the crowd involved in some hilariously spirited shenanigans.

Tracey Collins’ hilariously off-beat alter-ego is gyrating her way to the top of everyone’s must-see list and it’s easy to see why.
Tina T’urner’s first full-length Edinburgh show is met with some of the most enthusiastic audiences I’ve seen on the Fringe.

Crossing the spectrum from intelligent humour to cheesy cabaret, Tracey Collins plays the part of rock-star-turned tea-lady with a grace and humour that is both stylish and grotesque in equal measure; a satisfyingly side-splitting combination.

Words can barely describe this surreal yet definitely wonderful experience. For here is Tina T’urner, as you know her, and also as you most definitely don’t!
Hilarious re-workings of some of Tina’s greatest songs intersperse diary readings, declarations of love, a conga and some astonishing costume changes. You heard it here first – Tina T’urner Tea Lady is a perfect brew!

WOW ARTS MAGAZINE
- Coral Brown
"On shuffled character act Tina T’urner Tea Lady, an elderly tea lady convinced that she’s Tina Turner as she reminisces about the golden years. She shook up the room, wading in to the iciest realms of the audience to liven it up by propping her foot on men’s thighs and demanding they touch her leg in a raspy American accent. Suddenly the audience came online, with guttural laughter echoing from all corners of the room. Her character’s voice seemed drenched in all the booze and cigarettes you’d expect an ageing diva to have guzzled.
There’s something ineffably funny about a wigged-up tea lady slowly shimmying towards you through the crowd. Exactly what the doctor ordered"
